SlyDial and the better alternatives

SlyDial is the original consumer ringless voicemail app: dial its access number, skip the ring, land in someone's voicemail. Here is exactly how it works, what it costs, where it stops working for a business, and which alternatives pick up from there.

Why look for a SlyDial alternative?

SlyDial is built for individuals sending the occasional voicemail, not for businesses. Group SlyDial caps a pre-recorded send at about 10 recipients, which makes any real campaign impractical.

For business outreach it lacks the essentials: no CRM integrations, no API or automation, no two-way SMS, no AI personalization, and no campaign management or analytics. Teams that start on SlyDial quickly need a platform built for scale.

What SlyDial is and how it actually works

SlyDial is a consumer ringless voicemail service run by MobileSphere. You either open its iPhone or Android app and pick a contact, or you dial its access number from any phone. Either way it connects you to the recipient's voicemail box without ringing their handset, you leave your message, and you hang up. It delivers to US mobile numbers, and you can place the call from a landline as easily as from a mobile.

SlyDial describes the recipient experience like this: in most cases the person simply gets a new voicemail alert about a minute after you finish. Some handsets emit a short "half ring" before going to voicemail, and with some carriers you, the sender, hear a ringing tone while the carrier locates the voicemail box. That tone is not the recipient's phone ringing.

So SlyDial genuinely is ringless voicemail, and it is good at the one thing it was designed for: one person leaving one message for one other person. Everything below is about what happens when you try to use it for more than that. If you are new to the channel, how ringless voicemail works explains the mechanics across all providers.

The SlyDial number, and why it stops at ten

The SlyDial number people search for is the access line: 267-SLYDIAL, or 267-759-3425. You dial it, follow the prompts, enter the recipient's 10-digit mobile number, and it drops you into their voicemail. No account is required to use it. SlyDial does not charge for the call, but your carrier still bills it as a normal call to a 267 area code, so long distance or airtime minutes can apply.

That access line is a one-at-a-time tool by design. There is no list upload, no CRM connection, no scheduling, and no API. The only way to send a pre-recorded message to more than one person is the paid Group SlyDial add-on, which caps a send at 10 phone numbers.

SlyDial is upfront about this. Its own FAQ answers the question "I have thousands of numbers to call, will SlyDial work for me?" by pointing you at Slybroadcast, the bulk product from the same parent company. If you came looking for the SlyDial number because you want to reach a list, the access line is the wrong tool and the honest answer is that you need a platform, not a phone number.

Is SlyDial legal to use?

SlyDial itself is a legal, long-running US service, and leaving someone a voicemail without ringing their phone is not in itself illegal. What decides whether your use of it is legal is consent, not the tool. The FCC ruled in November 2022 that ringless voicemail messages are calls under the TCPA, which means a pre-recorded marketing voicemail to a mobile number needs the same prior express written consent as a robocall. That applies equally to SlyDial, to VoiceDrop, and to every other provider in this category.

The practical problem with a consumer tool is that it gives you nothing to prove consent with. There is no Do-Not-Call scrubbing, no suppression list, no record of who opted in and when, and no per-campaign log to hand a regulator or a plaintiff's lawyer. For a personal message to someone you know, none of that matters. For business outreach it is the whole exposure, and it is the most common reason teams move off a consumer app onto a platform with DNC suppression and campaign records built in.

SlyDial versus the alternatives, by use case

One message, one person, occasionally

SlyDial is the right answer here and nothing on this page beats it on simplicity or price. Dial the access number free, or pay $2.99/month to drop the in-call ads and connect faster.

  • Free via the access line, no signup, in-call advertising
  • $2.99/month or $29.99/year for ad-free Premium, up to two registered sending numbers
  • Live voicemail only on Premium: pre-recorded messages need Group SlyDial credits

A pre-recorded message to a handful of people

Group SlyDial covers this, but only just. It is $0.10 per voicemail, credits are pre-purchased in $10 increments, and a single send is capped at 10 phone numbers. You get a Group Reporting tab showing which numbers received the message and which did not.

  • Hard cap of 10 numbers per send, so a 200-contact list means 20 manual sends
  • One recording for everyone: no names, no fields, no personalization
  • No scheduling, no time-zone control, no CRM sync, no retries

Campaigns for a sales team

This is where SlyDial stops and a platform starts. Slybroadcast, from the same company, is the straightforward bulk option. Drop Cowboy and LeadsRain compete on per-drop cost. VoiceDrop is built for teams that want the callbacks handled, not just the message delivered.

  • List upload, scheduling, throttling, and delivery retries as standard
  • DNC suppression and phone validation so consent is provable, not assumed
  • AI voice cloning and merge fields so a thousand drops still sound one-to-one
  • An AI Inbound Agent plus two-way SMS to catch and qualify the callbacks

Why VoiceDrop is the top SlyDial alternative

VoiceDrop is built for teams that want every voicemail to sound personally recorded and every callback to be captured. AI voice cloning recreates your own voice from a 30-second sample, the AI Inbound Agent answers and qualifies the callbacks your campaign generates, and you only pay for voicemails that actually land. SlyDial covers the basics of getting a message into the inbox; VoiceDrop is designed to turn those drops into booked meetings.

FAQ

SlyDial alternatives FAQs

For teams that want personalization, callback conversion, and compliance, VoiceDrop is the strongest SlyDial alternative - it adds AI voice cloning, an AI Inbound Agent, two-way SMS, and SOC 2 Type II certification on top of standard ringless voicemail, starting at $95/month with $20 in free credits.
SlyDial is best for individuals who want to leave an occasional, discreet voicemail without ringing the phone. It is not built for businesses or sales teams running bulk, automated, multi-channel, or CRM-driven voicemail campaigns. Teams that have outgrown it usually want better personalization, a way to handle the callbacks they generate, and a free way to test before paying - which is where VoiceDrop fits.
Most reputable ringless voicemail providers charge per delivery because carrier delivery has real costs, so a truly free service is rare. VoiceDrop gives every new account $20 in free credits (about 200 messages) so you can test it before paying.
The SlyDial access number is 267-SLYDIAL, which dials as 267-759-3425. You can call it from any phone, landline or mobile, without creating an account, then follow the prompts and enter the recipient's 10-digit mobile number. SlyDial does not charge for it, but your carrier bills it as a normal call to a 267 area code. Checked on slydial.com in July 2026.
Yes. SlyDial connects straight to the recipient's voicemail box rather than placing a normal call. SlyDial's own FAQ notes that some handsets emit a brief "half ring" first, and that some carriers play a ringing tone to the sender while they locate the voicemail box, which is not the recipient's phone ringing.
No, the service itself is legal. Your use of it is what carries the risk: the FCC ruled in November 2022 that ringless voicemail messages are calls under the TCPA, so a pre-recorded marketing voicemail to a mobile number needs prior express written consent. SlyDial gives you no DNC scrubbing or consent records to demonstrate that, which is why business senders generally use a compliance-equipped platform instead. See are ringless voicemails legal for the detail.
The dial-in access line is free and needs no signup, but it plays an in-call advertisement and your carrier still charges for the call as normal. Premium removes the ads at $2.99/month or $29.99/year. Sending a pre-recorded message is separate and paid: Group SlyDial credits are $0.10 per voicemail, pre-purchased in $10 increments. Checked on slydial.com in July 2026.
Ten. A Premium Group SlyDial subscription sends one pre-recorded voicemail to up to 10 phone numbers per send, and there is no way to raise that cap. SlyDial's own FAQ directs anyone with thousands of numbers to Slybroadcast, its sibling bulk product. For list-driven campaigns you want a platform with list upload and scheduling, such as VoiceDrop's ringless voicemail app.
Yes. SlyDial publishes apps on the Apple App Store and Google Play, and you can also use the service from any phone by dialing the access number, including from a landline. It delivers to US mobile numbers only.
They are the same company, MobileSphere, aimed at two different users. SlyDial is the consumer app for one-to-one voicemails, capped at 10 recipients per pre-recorded send. Slybroadcast is the bulk business product for high-volume campaigns. See SlyDial pricing and the best Slybroadcast alternatives if you are choosing between them.
