Add a "Leave us a voicemail" button to your site. Visitors record a message of up to 2 minutes, and you get it in your VoiceDrop account and by email, with a written copy.

== Description ==

Some people will not fill in a form or pick up the phone, but they will say what they need out loud. This plugin puts a small floating button on your site. A visitor taps it, records a message of up to 2 minutes right in the browser, listens back, can add a name and a phone number or email, and sends it.

You get the message in your VoiceDrop account and in an email that includes:

* a written copy of what the visitor said
* the name, phone number and email the visitor left
* a button to listen to the recording
* a "Call back" button when the visitor left a phone number

What you can set:

* The button text, color and corner (in WordPress).
* A short greeting that appears at the top of the voicemail panel (in your VoiceDrop dashboard).
* Which websites may use your site key (in your VoiceDrop dashboard).

Spam protection is built in: a hidden trap field, an optional list of allowed websites and a quiet human check that visitors do not see unless it needs a tap.

The button is free. You need a free VoiceDrop account to get your site key. The plugin shows nothing on your site until you save a key.

**The credit link is off by default.** If you like the button, you can tick one box to show a small "Voicemail by VoiceDrop" link. Nothing is shown unless you tick it.

== External services ==

This plugin is a front end for the VoiceDrop service and cannot work without it. Once you save a site key, the plugin does the following.

**1. Loads the button script from VoiceDrop.**
Every public page of your site loads `https://www.voicedrop.ai/widget/voicemail-button.js`. Your visitor's browser requests that file, so VoiceDrop receives the visitor's IP address and browser details in the normal way. The script then asks `https://dashboard.voicedrop.ai/api/widget/voicemail/settings` for your greeting, sending your site key.

**2. Sends a visitor's message to VoiceDrop.**
Only when a visitor chooses to send. The recording, how long it is, and any name, phone number or email the visitor typed are sent to `https://dashboard.voicedrop.ai/api/widget/voicemail` together with your site key. VoiceDrop stores the recording for you, makes a written copy of it, and emails you. Nothing is sent before the visitor taps Send. The panel tells the visitor that the message is recorded and turned into text for the site owner.

**3. Runs a spam check when the panel opens.**
When a visitor opens the voicemail panel, a small page on `https://www.voicedrop.ai` runs Cloudflare Turnstile. This sends the visitor's IP address and browser signals to Cloudflare so it can tell a person from a bot. See the Cloudflare privacy policy: https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/

You are responsible for telling your visitors about this in your own privacy notice. The plugin sets no cookies of its own.

== Installation ==

1. Upload the plugin folder to `/wp-content/plugins/`, or install it from the Plugins screen.
2. Activate it.
3. Create a free VoiceDrop account at https://dashboard.voicedrop.ai/signup?next=%2Fdashboard%2Fintegrations%2Fwebsite-voicemail, or sign in, and copy your site key from Integrations, Website voicemail button.

5. Open your site. The button is in the corner you chose.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= Is it free? =

Yes. The button, the written copy of each message and the email are free. You need a free VoiceDrop account.

= Where do the messages go? =

To your VoiceDrop account, where you can listen, read the written copy and call back, and by email to the address on your account.

= How long can a message be? =

Up to 2 minutes.

= Can I stop other people from using my site key? =

Yes. In your VoiceDrop dashboard, list the websites that may use your key. A site that is not on the list is refused. If your key leaks, create a new one in the dashboard and paste it here.

= Does it work on every browser? =

Current Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari, on phones and computers. Your site has to open with https, because browsers only allow a microphone on secure pages.

= Why is nothing showing on my site? =

Check that you saved a site key that starts with `vdw_`, and that the button is switched on in your VoiceDrop dashboard. A page cache may also need clearing.

= Is the credit link required? =

No. It is off unless you tick the box on the settings page.
